With the new financial year officially underway, we’re busy helping many of you plan ahead with fresh budgets and forecasts, especially for those wrapping up March year-ends.
Employer NI Hike: Feeling the Pinch Yet?
This month also marked the start of the Employer National Insurance hike — and we’re starting to see how that’s playing out in real time for small businesses like yours. It’s not the most welcome of changes, but rest assured we’re here to help you manage the impact and keep things moving in the right direction.

With a shiny new tax year comes… shiny new tax cards! They’re packed with all the updated tax bandings you could possibly need. If you’re in the area, do pop in and help yourself to one — they’re great for quick reference and mildly satisfying to flick through (just us?).

We’re making all sorts of exciting changes here at the office. Our new conference room is nearly ready — and yes, we’ve finally got marked parking spaces! We’ll be sharing pictures soon, but for now, here’s a sneak peek of our brand-new front door and signage. Who knew a door could be so exciting?

Next month, we’re redoing our team photos ahead of our website relaunch. Wish us luck convincing everyone to turn up in their Sunday best! The website is getting a full refresh — we’ll share it with you the moment it goes live.
Podcast Update: Taxed and Relaxed Gets a Makeover!
Our beloved Taxed and Relaxed podcast is currently on a short break while we give it a full makeover. It’s coming back next week as FFS – For Finance’s Sake! Expect the same free and practical tax tips, but we’ll also be bringing in CFOs from big-name companies to share what they’ve learned on their own business journeys. It’s going to be a cracker, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled.
And Finally… A Bit of Personal Irony
On a slightly personal note, I celebrated my birthday this month — hooray! — and also enjoyed the gift of a speed awareness course… less hooray. Ironically, I cancelled a hotel to save some money and drove to the event instead — only to pick up a speeding ticket on the way. Classic accountant move: saved money, lost points.
